Halloween at The Kubert School

Halloween is one of our favorite times of the year here at the school, it's not unusual to see superheros and sorcerers strolling our halls on this hallowed day. With all the creativity contained in our students our annual Halloween Costume Contest is a chance for that creativity to bust out!

Instructor, Darren Auck or should we say Dr. Auckenstein, was our Master of Ceremonies with one quarter of our students participating in the contest. Our first place winner was Elena Morton as Space Ghost. Elena won a $75 gift certificate to the Kubert art supply store.

Founder\'s Day 2018

Friday, September 21st was Founder's Day here at the school, it's an annual event where we try to keep the memory of our school's founder, Joe Kubert alive. the way we celebrate is to have a door decorating competition among the classrooms and an informative lecture by a guest speaker. The winning classroom gets a pizza party for lunch and runners up get coffee and doughnuts for the classrooms.

This year Lloyd Briggery our events coordinator hosted a panel that included Hy Eisman, Anthony Marques and our own Adam Kubert. Hy was one of Joe Kubert's closest friends and helped him create the school, Hy is a well respected cartoonist known for his work on Little Iodine, The Katzenjammer Kids and his current work on Popeye, Hy taught at the school for forty years.  Anthony Marques is a school graduate who has gone on to editorial positions at both DC and Dynamite. Adam is a graduate of the school, currently an instructor and Vice President of the school and an exclusive artist for Marvel Comics. Each of them share their individual insight to Joe Kubert, informing the next generation of artists of Joe Kubert's contributions and impact on the comic book industry.

First year classroom 1B was the door decoration winner, with an awesome rendition of Joe Kubert's creator owned character TOR.
