Fernando Ruiz

A graduate of the legendary Kubert School, Fernando Ruiz has been working as a professional cartoonist and illustrator for over twenty-two years. Much of his comic book work has been for Archie Comics where he was the regular artist on such notable series as Archie’s Weird Mysteries, The Man From R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E., the Eisner-nominated Life With Archie Magazine and the Ghastly Award winning Archie Vs Predator. In addition to his work with Archie, Fernando has also worked with other companies such as Dark Horse Comics, Image, Chapterhouse Comics and Dynamite where he is a regular contributor to Boo The World’s Cutest Dog! He has also drawn various stories for the popular webcomics company Pixie Trix Comix. Fernando’s self-publishing efforts include the independent anthology EPICS featuring his creation, The Iron Ghost and most recently, he collaborated with his friend and partner, Dan Parent to launch the successful, acclaimed graphic novel, DIE KITTY DIE.

Fernando Ruiz also is a commercial illustrator whose clients include Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide, Telegraphics, J Connelly, and Cinquino&Co.

In 1995, Fernando returned to The Kubert School as an instructor and has been teaching there ever since. In 2016, he was given the Outstanding Instructor award in recognition of his twenty-one years of teaching excellence. In 2021, he joined The Kubert School’s staff as Admissions Officer and in 2022 he became the Academic Supervisor.
